LLC Mondelez-Rus will invest 3.5 billion rubles into the construction of a plant to produce chocolate and cookies at the Industrial and Logistics Park in the Novosibirsk region, a source familiar with the company’s plans told Interfax.
The enterprise is expected to produce chocolate bars under the brands of Alpen Gold and Milka, Jubileynoe cookies, Medvezhonok Barni sponge cakes and other items. Additionally, the factory will have equipment to fill Jacobs Monarch freeze-dried coffee.
The company plans to reach projected capacity, which has not yet been disclosed, in 2016.
The regional government in the Novosibirsk region has said that Mondelez-Rus CEO Romeo Lacerda and acting vice governor Kirill Kolonchin will sign a cooperation agreement on April 9. The regional government said that on April 15, Mondelez-Rus will present its project to the board of investments of the governor.
LLC Mondelez-Rus, which is part of Mondelez International, previously Kraft Foods, has been operating on the Russian market for 19 years and owns 5 plants in the Vladimir, Leningrad and Novgorod regions. The company has invested $1 billion in Russia.
Mondelez International Inc. had turnover of $35 billion in 2013.
The Industrial and Logistics Park has 18 residents, covers 2,000 hectares and is located 12 kilometers from Novosibirsk and 6 kilometers from Tolmachevo International Airport (MOEX: ATLM).
